COLINGTON YACHT CLUB NOTICE OF RACE
Last Race of the Season
Colington Yacht Club
The regatta is open to all boats that are owned or skippered by members of the Colington Yacht Club who are members in good standing.
Eligible boats may enter by completing the CYC Race Registration form from the club web site and sending it to the Fleet Captain or bringing it to the skippers meeting. There will be no cost for the Turkey Cup race.
Eastern Albemarle Sound, west of 2KH, south of 2P, and north of Roanoke Island.
Skipper’s meeting 10:00 a.m. at the CYC Youth Shed in the Harbour
Bring your boat to the skippers meeting. Racing to begin no later than 11:30 am. or when
all boats have assembled in the starting area.
There shall be 1 or 2 classes depending on the number of entries – spinnakers are allowed
Three boats are needed for a class
If there are spinnaker boats but not enough to make a class (3 or more) boats flying spinnakers will have 10 seconds subtracted from their PHRF rating.

The Racing Rules of Sailing for 2013-2016 and the prescriptions of the US Sailing will govern the regatta, except as theses are changed by the Sailing Instructions
RACE FORMAT AND COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
Two races around the marks. Course will be a standard triangle.
Plans for this course include a shortened windward leg and longer reaching and off the wind legs.
Course length will be dependant on weather. Legs will be shortened if winds are light, heavy or rain is prevalent.
Competitors are warned that within the area of racing there may be waters charted at 4 feet or less and/or there may be other hazards to navigation such as crab pots and pound stakes.
Navigation is solely the responsibility of the individual boats, owners, and skippers.
Races will be started using rule 26
Rule 30.1 (the around the end rule) applies to all races without the use of a separate signal
Boats that do not finish either race within 45 minutes of the first place boat will be scored a DNF.
The race will be scored using time on time scoring. Places will be determined using the low point system in Appendix A of the Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016.
Awards will be as follows: a Cornish Game Hen for third place, a Roasting Chicken for second place, and a Turkey for First Place
Awards will be distributed in the harbour at the pavilion immediately after racing and picking up marks from the course.
Any boat protesting another shall adhere to rule 61 and all of its subparts.
As a courtesy to the Committee Boat and the boat being protested, please announce your intention to protest via the VHF radio addressed to the Race Committee as soon as is reasonably possible.
NOTICES TO COMPETITORS:
The Race Committee boat shall monitor and broadcast on Channel 68.
All vessels must comply with USCG safety requirements
Racing may be cancelled with sustained winds in excess of 25 knots
